Breadner Trailers provides accessible information and communications for persons with disabilities, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its associated regulations. This policy sets out the standards for providing accessible information and communications.

 

This policy governs all team members and colleagues of Breadner Trailers.

 

1.0 PURPOSE

This policy affirms Breadner Trailers commitment to providing an accessible environment for all clients, team members, job applicants, suppliers and visitors who may enter our premises, access our information or use our services.

 

2.0 DEFINITIONS

Accessible formats: Include but are not limited to large print, recorded audio and electronic formats, braille, and other formats usable by persons with disabilities.

Communication supports: Include but are not limited to captioning, alternative and augmentative communication supports, plain language, sign language, and other supports that facilitate effective communications.

 

3.0 BREADNER TRAILERS COMMITMENT

  1. As an organization, we respect and comply with the requirements of the AODA and its associated regulations. We strive to provide an accessible and welcoming environment for everyone by identifying and removing barriers in our workplace and ensuring that new barriers are not created.
  2. The company ensures that persons with disabilities are provided with equal opportunities. We are committed to meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities in a timely and integrative manner that respects their dignity and independence.
  3. Customers with disabilities and/or accompanied by a service animal will have access to Breadner Trailers premises with the animal and will be able to keep the animal with them, except in those areas in which the animal is excluded by law or it is unsafe for the animal to be present. Breadner Trailers will make accommodations to ensure the customer still receives the services they require.


4.0 TEAM MEMBER AWARENESS & TRAINING

Training is provided to employees, volunteers, those who participate in the development of company policies, and any other person who provides goods, services, or facilities on behalf of the company. Training is provided on the accessibility standards found in the IASR and on the Human Rights Code that is appropriate for the duties they complete while at work.

This training is provided during onboarding of new team members or contractors. Where required, retraining is provided to ensure compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.


5.0 FEEDBACK PROCESS

Breadner Trailers ensures its process for receiving and addressing feedback is accessible by providing or arranging accessible formats and communication supports upon request. 6.0 AVAILABILITY OF DOCUMENTS

This policy and Breadner Trailers related accessibility practices will be made available to any customer or public member upon request.

 

7.0 INTERPRETATION

Responsibility for the interpretation of this policy rests with jointly with the Director of People & Culture and the President.
